Week commencing 13th June 2022 - Lindfield.

What an amazing week !

Our project has been gardening and we have enjoyed spending lots of time in our own garden in Lindfield.

It has been a hive of activity all week and we have been spending lots of time exploring ways to enhance our space for the children.

We have so many lovely plants and flowers growing and this week we all helped to tend to them by watering.

It was a hot week and we learnt that plants should be watered at the beginning or end of the day before the sun gets too strong. If you water your plants in the midday sun you could scorch the leaves.

We enjoyed lots of water play this week to help keep us cool. We had sea animals and shells in the water tray as the children had such fun with them last week we continued the experience this week, adding bubbles and pots for measuring.

The children also transported some water to the tuff spot and found bits form the garden to add in.

Please send your child to Acorns with sun protection already applied and a sun hat to wear outdoors.

We can reapply sun cream during the day but as you can imagine - 21 children to apply cream to at one go when they are all desperate to get outside can be a challenge

Also can we ask that you name your cream and sun hats.

We went on some special trips this week too.

On Wednesday we went to visit the open garden at the top of Denmans lane.

The owners were so kind to us, they set up a little shady spot with blankets for us to sit on and made us a treasure hunt to follow.

We had to go in search of models and sculptures all hidden within the beautiful grounds.

The garden was truly outstanding and we had such an amazing time.

We highly recommend visiting the next time the open garden event is on.

Thank to our lovely neighbours and new friends at the top of the lane.

Can you spot the bee ?

We saw lots of dragon flies around the pond.

Tasty Raspberries - picked especially for us !

We found some fairy houses .... magical !!

Back in our garden we used a rubber mallet and some pretty flowers to make prints. This was such a great activity and it turned out way better than we expected .. the children loved using the mallet and it left the prettiest prints on their paper.

We also enjoyed some planting activities.

Learning about what our flowers need to help them grow.

On Friday we went on another trip to Jay Miller's Circus.

We were invited down to have a look inside the big circus tent by Peppi and Zsofia, Hanna's parents.

They are performers in the circus and travel all around the country bringing the circus to towns and villages just like Lindfield.

Many of our children had visited the circus during the week with their family so it was super special to be able to go on the stage and try out some tricks.

We took turns to walk the wire

We watched juggling and hoola hooping and we were amazed at the strength of the performers.

We even got to try plate spinning !

What an amazing experience for us all !

Thank you to the team at Jay Miller's Circus for having us - We loved it !

A brilliant week at The Acorns - We hope the children enjoyed it as much as we did.

We wish all of our amazing Dads, Daddies, Papa's, Padres and Baba's a wonderful day tomorrow.

Happy Fathers Day to you all.
