Week commencing 14th October 2024 - Acorns 25

Welcome to our blog post.

We hope you enjoy reading about our week.

This week our focus has been on ‘Our Emotions’

We have enjoyed lots of fun activities this week to help us learn and understand our emotions and feelings.

We looked at some picture cards and tried to identify through facial expressions how the person may be feeling.

We made some playdough together and then used our playdough to make different faces on top of the cards.

We read a lovely story called ‘Bear is Kind’ several times throughout the week.

It was interesting to see how the children could recall the story later in the week and were able to remember key events and characters.

After the story we chatted in our group about the kind things that bear does.

We chatted about what things make us feel happy and we made quotes for our family tree.

We did some painting in the garden this week and are so excited that our library display will be put up this weekend by Mrs Irwin.

We hope you can find the time to visit the display to see your children's work. They have worked really hard.

We enjoyed time in the garden washing our babies (dolls) as that’s what makes our babies feel happy and it is kind of us to look after them.

Here are a selection of garden time photos.

Some children went out for a lovely walk around the village and to the park.

The had a great time using all of the equipment and also lots of fun splashing in the muddy puddles, mud and squelchy leaves.

We spotted a snail.

We did some vegetable printing - making faces.

We used a head of broccoli for the hair, the stalk for the nose and peppers for the eyes and mouth.

We talked about our feelings while we were painting.

Here are a few extra photos from our week.

We hope you enjoyed reading about our week at The Acorns.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

Mrs Franks and The Acorns Team.
