Week commencing 1st July 2024 - Acorns 59

Hello and welcome to our blog post.

We hope you enjoy reading about our week.

We have had a really fun week.

We have enjoyed lots of garden time and experimented with lots of sports.

We played football, did some races and followed an obstacle course.

We had to dribble a football around some cones, balance on the beams whilst holding a potato on a spoon and throw beanbags into a target.

The children did so well – they listened, followed our instructions and were able to complete the course.

They were given a medal afterwards which they were very proud of and excited to show their family.

Mrs Drake shook hands with the children as she awarded the medals and everyone cheered for their friends.

We had our annual Acorns Family Picnic on Wednesday – and of course, it rained !!

Before we set off for the picnic the children made their own sandwiches. They chose what they would like to put into the bags which they had decorated.

“Can I have marmite and honey sandwiches but not together."

“I really love cheese but only the yellow cheese, not the orange cheese.”

"I love these crisps."

"Is this an orange or a satsuma?"

We didn’t let the rain get in the way and we set out to enjoy some time together.

Thank you to everyone who braved the drizzle and came to join us on the green.

Acorns children and parents aren’t afraid of a little bit of rain … or mud.

We blew bubbles, played in the park and ran around in the open space.

We all had a lovely time.

In the garden the children have been learning how to safely use the climbing frame.

We have noticed a huge surge in their confidence as they climb up and over the frame.

We did some indoor sports - the long jump.

We talked to the children about 'personal bests' and how athletes compete against other people but also against themselves - always trying to better their results.

We did a few jumps and were able to see that the more we tried, the further we managed to reach.

Well done Acorns !!

Here are a few more photos from our week.

We hope you have enjoyed a little peak into our week at The Acorns.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone and we look forward to seeing you next week for our final week of fun before the summer break.
