Week commencing 21st October 2024 - Acorns 25 Denmans Lane
Welcome to our blog post.
We have enjoyed learning about Diwali this week with the children.
We listened to a lovely story called ‘Lighting a lamp’ and chatted about Diwali celebrations.
We drew around our hands and used paint sticks to create a henna design.
We also helped with cleaning up afterwards - superstars !
We also have been talking about Halloween and pumpkins.
Thank you to everyone who brought in a pumpkin for our display this week.
We enjoyed reading Room on the Broom together and loved how the witch mixed things in her cauldron to make a magic potion.
Mrs Finney brought in her giant book for us to enjoy.
We went for a lovely walk to the common and collected things for our own potion making activity.
LS tried to make a bunny appear from her potion.
WC wanted a tiger to magically arrive at The Acorns.
ZB wished for a bear.
Such a fun activity with lots of laughing and smiles.
We made Halloween sun catchers with Miss Danton in the shape of pumpkins.
We baked some delicious pumpkin bread.
Everyone helped to weigh out the ingredients and to mix and grate.
It tuned out really well and the children enjoyed having it after lunch for pudding.
If you would like the recipe please ask.
We would be delighted to share it with you.
We enjoyed another walk around the village and looked at all the Autumnal displays.
We found soo many beautiful leaves of all different colours.
Can you spot a spiky creature in this window display?
We made spooky skeletons on Friday.
Here are a selection of other photos from our week.
It has been packed with fun, adventure and learning.
We spotted some really interesting things this week
Look at these cobwebs !
There was lots of action on the lane with diggers & trucks.
We enjoyed watching the grabber lorry make a delivery on our way back to number 59 and chatted to all the workers who happily told us about their machines.
We got a thumbs up and a big smile from one worker.
We hope you have enjoyed reading about our week
Thank you for taking the time and we look forward to your comments.
Have a wonderful half term.
Mrs Franks and The Acorns Team.
