Week commencing 22nd April 2024 - Acorns 25

Hello Everyone.

Welcome to our blog post.

We have had a wonderful week at The Acorns 25 - We hope you enjoy reading about it.

We celebrated St Georges Day - The children painted flags and we displayed them in the nursery cloakroom - Did you spot them?

We have been making pictures for the library display which will go up next week. We hope you can pop in to see them and perhaps take a photo to share with us.

The Children have worked really hard to make some lovely art work and are very proud that they will be going to the Library for everyone to see.

We have celebrated a few birthdays this week - the children love singing Happy Birthday to their friends and are always super excited when there is a cake involved !!

We have spent lots of time in the garden this week - the weather has been great and we have managed to mostly dodge the April showers.

The ride on toys were popular this week.

Last week the children collected some bits and pieces from the garden. Twigs, leaves and petals.

They put them into ice cub trays and we froze them.

This week we popped out the ice cubes and explored !

The children chatted about why the cubes were cold, what might make them melt and how they felt in their hands.

It was a lovely activity that sparked lots of interest and the use of amazing language.

Water turns into ice and then when it melts it returns to water again.

Wow !

The children enjoyed reading St Georges story throughout the week and by the middle of the week were able to recall key events and characters within the book.

Wonderful listening skills and attention. Well done team !

A group of children went to check on the garden that we help to look after at The Dr Surgery. They chatted to passers by as they helped to pull out weeds from the flower bed.

On Friday the children made a delicious fruit salad - they tried hard to peel their own satsuma.

The children names each piece of fruit and talked about where it grew, its colour and shape.

We hope they enjoy the fruit salad.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

Mrs Franks and The Acorns 25 Team.
