Week commencing 26th February 2024 - Acorns 59
Hello and welcome to our blog post.
We have had a wonderful week learning about Kenya with the help of Catherine.
(Timothy’s Mummy)
We have loved learning about the safari animals – the Big 5 and the Big 9.
Did you know that there are no tigers in Africa?
Catherine had printed off some amazing pictures for us to look at of the animals.
We were able to name most of them and mimic their sound.
Does anyone know what sound a giraffe makes?
We made lions and giraffe pictures – they have been displayed in the nursery all week for us to look at.
To make the giraffes the children finger painted, used stickers and pencils.
For the lions - we painted with forks and drew the faces with pens and pencils.
We made binoculars so we could search for animals on safari.
Catherine brought in a huge basket of fabrics, games, crafts and fun activities for us – she also came in to read some stories with the children and showed us photos of when Timothy fed a giraffe and saw elephants.
We were so excited to play with the puppets that Catherine had brought in. What a wonderful selection.
Can you name all of the animals?
We made some paper plate elephants with long trunks.
We painted our plates and then used sticky glue to stick on the trunk.
We were very proud of them.
We are trying very hard to remember to put the lids back on our glue sticks.
On Friday we talked about St David's Day and Mrs Drake taught us some words in Welsh.
We loved hearing about the Welsh Dragon.
Mrs Irwin had lots of vases of daffodils for us to look at.
The daffodils in our garden are bright and beautiful. We have soo many !!
Catherine cooked for us all on Monday and Friday and she made bread to be served with our lunch on Wednesday – Thank you so much.
We are incredibly grateful for all of your time and effort this week to make Kenyan week so special.
Here are a few more photos from our week.
We hope you have enjoyed reading about our week.
Next week we will be travelling to France.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone.
Mrs Franks and The Acorns 59 Team.
