Week commencing 5th February 2024 - Acorns 25.

Welcome to our blog post.

Happy Lunar New Year!

This week we have been learning about China and we have celebrated the Lunar New Year.

It is the year of the dragon.

We made our very own dragon out of cardboard and fabric whilst listening to some traditional Chinese music.

We made red envelopes - It is tradition during New Year Celebrations to give children red envelopes with coins inside.

The children made their own envelopes and decorated them with glitter.

We popped a special treat inside - some chocolate coins !

We made Chinese lanterns - we used felt pens to decorate our paper before folding them into lanterns (with a little help)

The looked great !! The children were very proud of them.

We enjoyed a lovely walk down to the duck pond where we spotted some new birds.

Canadian Geese !!

We were so excited to see them - we counted 7 !

We enjoyed colour matching games - using the compare bears.

It was fun to sort them out into sets, using words like more or less.

We also followed some pattern cards.

We loved building with bricks, both inside and out. Who can make the tallest tower?

We looked at a Chinese number line and tried to find our special numbers.

We then wrote the numbers for ourselves.

We hope you have enjoyed reading about our week.

Have a wonderful half term break and we look forward to seeing you and hearing about all of your adventures.

Mrs Franks and The Acorns 25 Team.
