Week commencing 7th October 2024 - Acorns 25
Welcome to our blog post.
This week our focus has been ‘Keeping Healthy, including Oral Health’
We started the week with a fun exercise class.
We did squats, lunges, hopped, jumped, touched our toes, ran, balanced and stretched.
We tried to explain how our bodies felt after exercising and we noticed how our heart beats faster and we feel hotter.
We read a lovely book about hedgehogs and went on to make some hedgehog paintings.
We experimented with lots of different techniques.
We used a potato to print the body and a fork to create the spikes.
We used a cotton bud for the eyes and nose and some sponges to add Autumn leaves.
We also made some hedgehogs with play dough and pasta.
We enjoyed time in the garden washing our pots and pans.
We listened to a story about Topsy and Tim visiting the dentist and enjoyed a circle time together talking about why it is important to keep our teeth and gums clean and healthy.
Some of the older children played a maths game – rolling the dice and matching the number to the tooth. We then used the toothbrush to rub out the number.
We looked inside our dentist box and found lots of books related to teeth and visiting the dentist.
We brushed some giant teeth with toothbrushes.
We made a frozen yoghurt bark using Greek yoghurt, honey and we added in some grapes.
We enjoyed lots of garden time – we had icy fun again with our frozen dinosaurs. We loved sliding them down the tubes.
We have had some rainy days and had soo much fun filling and pouring with our nice clean garden pots and pans.
We played some outdoor singing games.
We made collage faces with glue sticks and cut outs.
We revisited our talks about healthy teeth but also spoke about looking after all of our body.
These are adorable!!
We hope you have enjoyed reading about our week and we look forward to your comments.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone.
